Our Site is
No Longer Screwed Up
At first it will seem that it
is, because the first part of today's piece consists of a bunch
of numbers and dots and parentheses. But we assure you that
this is simply us experimenting with a new narrative form: the
email header. In terms of entertainment value, we must rule
this form a failure. Perhaps some Pynchonesque genius will be
able to do something with it. For us nonPynchonesque geniuses,
there is plain English in the body of the email if you scroll
down a bit.

Subject: Come Home Syggy.
You’ve had your fun. now come back home, please.
It’s bad enough that you’re broke and that your friends--the
ones who helped you out--are just as lost and confused as you
are right now. You’re not going to change anything, and you’re
not going anywhere, not in the shape you’re in, mister. It’s
time to be a man, admit your failures, and move on. I said the
same thing to your father ten years ago and you know what happened.
You’re just like him Syggy, but you don’t have to be. I’m sick
and tired of you not returning my phone calls, so I went ahead
and found a great deal for you on www.expedia.com and made a
reservation on American. They show such nice movies. I got you
the electronic tickets to all you have to do is show up with
your bags packed. If you need a little extra moving money, I’ll
wire some, but it better not go to Marc again. He’s his own
person and doesn’t need your help. I look forward to seeing
you soon, and Rudy is worked up of course. He loves you so much,
and I hate to say it, but things aren’t looking so good.
I love you.
