A parrot copulates by approaching its partner rear-first, jerking its head about spasmodically.  Intercourse is completed in less than twenty seconds. They are usually seen in small family groups during the breeding season.

For most sea turtles, mating occurs in the water, relatively close to shore.  Sea turtles open their mouths slightly and draw in water through the nose, then immediately empty it out again through the mouth. Pulsating movements of the throat also occur during copulation.  Two or more males may court a single female.

The breeding season for koalas runs roughly from September to March. During this time of increased activity, there is a deep grunting bellow which the male uses to signify its physical position. Females do not bellow as often as males, but their calls too are used to express aggression, often giving the impression of fighting. A koala will then mark its mating grounds with the scent from its urine.

Giraffes travel and graze in loose groups where members can come and go as they please. One bull that will be the "loose" leader of the herd and will mate with the females. If there is a challenge to the lead bull's authority and mating rites, the males take part in a very unusual dueling method. The moves seem choreographed like a dance. Although they do herd, generally giraffes are loners. They live a life of mostly solitude and only seem interested in other giraffes for mating purposes.
